Galapagos day 6 afternoon

This afternoon we were going to a tortoise breeding center and a walk to through some wet lands. After talking to Adrianna I ask to be let off the bus for the afternoon. Needed some time just to goof off in town. Had a beer, found a hammock and then found a beach. The national park has at least 12 good surfing beaches in 12km and I found one. Was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Galapagos day 6 morning

We are still on Isabella island just a different area. First thing this morning took the pangas to “Tintoreras” park for a short hike. Then back to the boat for breakfast. Then a 7km round trip hike up Volcan Sierra Negra. The caldera at the top of the volcano is 6km wide and 7 km long. It was a little hazy so we could not see where the lava enters the sea.

Galapagos day 5 afternoon

This is the first time seeing tortoises in the wild. Amazing! Later in the day we hiked a huge lava field. You could see lava everywhere. You would walk along and a green oasis would appear with flamingos feeding.

Galapagos Day 5 morning

Started in Elizabeth bay on Isabella island with a 2 hour panga ride floating through the mangroves. We saw sea turtles, rays and our first penguins. We went nearby to snorkel and saw a ton of sea turtles even a golden one. The penguins are very fast in the water. They swam around in circles right in front of me then climbed over the rocks to the beach on the other side. Nice morning.

Galapagos day 4 afternoon

We sailed to “Isabela Island- Urbina Bay” during lunch. Wet landing and a hike. First time for large groups of marine iguanas here. Later when we snorkeled off the pangas they were swimming all around us. You could watch them while they were on the bottom feeding. Pretty cool.

Galapagos day 4 morning

We started the day at “Fernandina Espinoza”. I decided to leave the camera on the boat and just soak it all in. We had a dry landing and hike. Later we snorkeled off the pangas.

Galapagos day 3 afternoon

Sailed to “Puerto Egas” during lunch. Wet landing and hike. First time for fur seals and even saw a golden sea turtle. I saw another golden turtle while snorkeling a few days later. Was told that they are rare. Marine and land iguanas. Golden iguana is the land type. Later we snorkeled off the beach.

Galapagos Day 3 morning

We arrived to Santiago Island early in the morning. Took a panga ride to look around first thing. Visited Buccaneer cove then went snorkeling off the pangas.
